Our spirits were lifted and our voices were heard as Jews from across the state filled our meeting room in Trenton for our annual RJVNJ Advocacy Day.  We were blessed with extraordinary speakers — organizers from our partner advocacy groups, legislators, state officials, and  our own rabbis and lay leaders — who shared background and updates on our issues and bills, engaged us in meaningful conversation, and helped us think about why each of these issues is important to us as Jews individually and to the Reform Movement as a whole.
And we learned from each other.  We are so appreciative of the expertise and insightful questions that so many shared.
We also met with our legislators in constituent groups per their availability, and committed to home office meetings for those who could not meet that day.
This is what we asked for:
  1. Vote Yes/Cosponsor A4743/S3229, allowing drivers’ licenses for undocumented residents and others who can’t meet RealID requirements. Call for immediate vote.
  2. Vote Yes/Cosponsor S2100/A3456, expanding voting rights to those with convictions as a civil rights issue.
  3. Vote Yes/Cosponsor A4819/S2252, supporting electric vehicle infrastructure as environmental justice issue.

Our work continues with these campaigns. Call or visit your state legislators to voice your support (we can help!), and watch for action alerts.
